Under the guidance and supervision of the Administrative Assistant, the Senior Driver will provide reliable and safe driving services ensuring to UNDP and other high-ranking UN Officials and visitors ensuring highest standards of discretion and integrity, high sense of responsibility, excellent knowledge of protocol and security issues. The Senior Driver will demonstrate a client-oriented approach, courtesy, tact, and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

Upon request from the supervisor, the Senior Driver can also be required to provide driving services to the Operations and Programme staff in the CO, consultants and experts and UN staff on mission. Duties and Responsibilities The Senior Driver will provide reliable and safe driving services ensuring to UNDP RCO and other high-ranking UN Officials and visitors ensuring the highest standards of discretion and integrity, a high sense of responsibility, and excellent knowledge of protocol and security issues.

1. Provision of reliable and secure driving services focusing on the following:

  • Driving office vehicles for the transport of UNDP, other high-ranking officials, visitors and other authorized personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items.
  • Meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport, visa and customs formalities arrangement when required.
  • Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.
  • To perform the dispatching of drivers for different duties/ field missions as and when required and as informed by Motor pool Focal Person.
  • To attempt all the assigned mandatory courses.
  • To perform any other related function as and when required.
  • 2. Proper use of vehicle focusing on the following :

  • Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports
  • Ensure to charge the cost recovery to UN Agencies, and Projects.
  • 3.   Day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle focusing on the following:

  • Through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.
  • Proper usage of VMS – Vehicle Management System. Preparation of Work Order, invoices
  • Proper working on quotation from vendors for repairing and maintenance work.
  • 4. Availability of documents/supplies focusing on the following;

  • Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, and map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts.

  • Required Skills and Experience Education:
  • High School Education (12 Grade)
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience is required
  • Experience with Head of Agency/organization/Project as a driver is desired
  • UN Experience would be an asset.
  • Safe driving record.
  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair.
  • Armored vehicle training and certification an asset
  • Defensive Training for Road Safety and Awareness
  • SSAFE Training
  • Valid Driver’s license is required.
  • Required Language(s) (at working level)

    Fluency in English, knowledge of the local language of the duty station.
